Matt Spengler
Founder & Executive Director
Matt Spengler
Matthew Spengler is responsible for leading the overall operation and strategic direction of Blueprint Schools Network. Matt has been involved in school reform for more than twenty years as a teacher, leadership coach, nonprofit administrator, and as the founding principal of MetWest High School in Oakland, California. Prior to launching Blueprint, Matt was the Program Director of The Education Innovation Laboratory at Harvard University (EdLabs), overseeing the implementation of field experiments in districts across the country. He also served as Chief Academic Officer for Lighthouse Academies, a national nonprofit charter school management organization and as the National Director of New School Development for the Big Picture Company, where he worked with school districts and charter school leaders to create and sustain new elementary, middle, and high schools. Matt received his A.B. from Harvard University and his M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Urban Superintendents Program.
Lori Kipnis
Director of Human Capital Strategy
Lori Kipnis
Lori brings more than 20 years of strategic HR leadership experience within nonprofit, for-profit and public sectors. She has shaped talent management initiatives for organizations focused on K-12 Education and Youth Development. She graduated from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis with degrees in Management, International Business and Organization and Human Resource Management. Lori attained both a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation and a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification. Lori has authored blogs, articles and served as a featured national speaker on talent management topics related to performance, feedback, and employer branding. Also, she has completed the Executive Education Program Managing Human Capital: Key Strategic Challenges at Harvard Business School.
Sarah Kirker

Sarah Kirker
Sarah graduated from Colby College with a degree in Mathematics. She loves Blueprint because she is passionate about giving students the opportunity to learn to love math. She joined the Blueprint team in 2011 as one of the inaugural Math Fellows in the Denver project and has worked with the Colorado, Bay Area and National teams since. Outside of Blueprint you can find her enjoying the outdoors in Northern California and adding to her ever increasing collection of books.
Todd Fishburn
Director of Innovation and Impact
Todd Fishburn
Working in education since 1992, Todd has been a special education teacher, technology integration specialist, assistant principal, and principal in both rural and urban settings. What drives Todd in his work is improving life outcomes for high-needs students by giving scholars equitable access to high-quality teaching and learning. Todd holds a master’s degree in applied educational technology and a doctorate in innovation and leadership. When not working, Todd enjoys spending time outside boating, fishing, gardening, and doing daily meditation (outside when possible).
Ted Trevens
Director of Finance
Ted Trevens
Ted has been working in the nonprofit sector since 1990. He has held senior management positions with both foundations and direct service organizations. He holds an MBA from Boston College and is specifically interested in helping nonprofits to adopt private sector methods to improve effectiveness. Ted is an expert in strategic planning, financial management, board development, business plan development, fundraising, grants administration, and has trained nonprofit professionals in all of these areas.
Freda Statom-Greene
Director of Development and Engagement
Freda Statom-Greene
Freda has more than 20 years experience with social justice focused non-profits and has expertise in communications, coalition building, fundraising and management. She is a 2022 LeaderSpring Woman of Color LeadStrong Fellow and has held leadership positions with a variety of national nonprofits such as the YWCA, Multiplying Good (formerly the Jefferson Awards Foundation,) KIPP and United Way. She has been instrumental in forming partnerships, fundraising initiatives and organizational strategies to not only sustain programming, but also support scaling and mission impact to benefit diverse communities. Freda holds a BA from the University of California Berkeley and a certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University Center of Philanthropy. She has served on the advisory boards of the Hidden Genius Project and the Black Female Project and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. When she is not fostering connections, she can be found listening to jazz, travelling and hiking the Bay Area trails with her husband and their chocolate lab.

Susie Hartline
Susie Hartline has been working in the education field since 1990. She has served in the role of teacher, coach, and administrator. Susie brings an HR background in recruiting to her role at Blueprint Schools Network. She holds two master’s degrees in Instructional Technology and Educational Leadership. Outside of work, Susie enjoys being outside enjoying nature with her three dogs.

Stephen has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from University of Missouri – St. Louis. He has been with blueprint for 5 years. His first year with Blueprint he was a fellow. Outside of Blueprint he enjoys solving math puzzles and playing board games.
Alma Trevino
Manager, Human Capital Operations
Alma Trevino
Alma Trevino has over 21 years of experience in a variety of speciality areas in Human Resources ranging from Staffing, Benefits Management, Risk Management, Work Eligibility Compliance, and all areas of Background Screening. Her career was composed of supporting one of the largest school districts in Florida. Alma has an expertise in background screening, federal & state compliance, and project management. In her previous role, she supervised the full screening processing for 8,500 employees, 10,000 volunteers, and 3,500 contractors. Alma joined the Blueprint Schools Network team in August 2022 and enjoys being a part of a team that makes a positive impact in children’s lives. When not working, Alma enjoys spending time with her family and her frenchie. She loves the beach, traveling, and listening to music.

Charles Levinson
Charlie has a Masters in Education with a focus in Community & Social Change and has worked with youth in various educational capacities. When he’s not coaching Fellows and doing math, he can be found cooking, exercising, and trying to keep up with his two young children.
Ali Lafferty

Ali Lafferty
Ali’s lifelong love of education started when she tutored peers all through middle school and high school in the Inland Empire in California. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a BA in English and Italian Studies, Ali continued that passion by teaching English as a Second Language in Italy. Upon returning to the US and starting a Math Fellow position with Blueprint, she quickly fell in love with middle school math tutoring and support. She supported students in Oakland as a Blueprint Math Fellow for 2 years, and grew into a role as an Associate Site Manager with Blueprint.
In her free time, Ali enjoys reading, knitting, baking bread, trying to keep succulents alive, and light hiking. She volunteers with the Prisoners Literature Project in Berkeley.
Lauren Woll

Lauren Woll
Lauren Woll studied Classics at UC Santa Cruz and the University of Pennsylvania. She came away with a lifetime love of teaching, learning, and seeing things from new perspectives. When she doesn’t get to try those things in a middle school, she practices them while crafting, reading, and studying language.

Luis Serrano
Luis graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Applied Mathematics. He enjoys helping people and attributes his success in school to tutoring peers throughout high school and college. After college, he sought and found work in education. He landed with Blueprint in 2020. Now, his goals are to teach others best teaching practices for small groups.
When not teaching or coaching, Luis can be found going for walks around Oakland trying to find new coffee spots to drink at, playing soccer with friends, or playing video games at home.
